After much work the old “multi-region” category is retired! Now you’ll be able to tell on each and every page which of the 3 main regions any game was released in along with its localized title (if it had a unique one). The North American page is pretty much done (barring some surprise finds and inevitable misses) but there is still a lot of work to do for Europe and Japan. Namely, I still need to get icons from thousands and thousands of games.
North America
1,194 titles and 132 region exclusives
Europe
826 titles and 19 region exclusives… and counting
Japan
1,075 titles and 559 region exclusives… and counting
Other Icons
There are 4 Other Icons on the site.
This category includes anything that doesn’t come from a retail product:
unreleased games, developer samples and tech tools, demo discs, system level utilities, and more
That’s 1,829 games in total
A Couple of Notes, since you’re here
Exclusivity is based only on the original PlayStation run from 1994 through the mid-2000s. It does not take into consideration if a game has since been made available in other regions like the Japanese release of Magical Drop F coming to PlayStation 3 in North America in 2010.
There’s also a funny situation where a game will support memory cards in one region and not another. In these cases the game won’t appear in the list for unsupported regions. For example, Skullmonkeys was released worldwide but it only used the memory card in Japan. For us, that’s a Japanese release (but not a Japanese exclusive, it’s complicated).
