Bring the PlayStation menus right to your desktop

One of the things that finally kickstarted this whole memory card madness were the PlayStation BIOS assets that someone ripped over on Spriters-Resource. I loved seeing the deep blues and purples of the original PlayStation interface and combined with those gaudy rainbow spectrum splatters it just really struck me here in early 2024. So I spent a few days fiddling with things in Photoshop and created a few 1080p, wallpaper-sized images to use on my own desktop. Having the memory card grid for desktop icons sent me on a hunt for compatible .ico files and it all kind of snowballed from there.

So now that the site has been up and running for a bit — and since I needed to make a new blog post anyways — I thought I’d share the wallpapers here as well. They’re over on my DeviatArt page and come in a variety of flavors depending on how many menu items you want covering your own desktop. They’ve also made for good background assets on my recent livestreams over on Twitch. Let me know what you think and if you’re using them on PC, mobile, or wherever else.
