FUN FACT
Way back when I first saw this icon I thought it was strange that it looked like rock, paper, scissors. Months later, I’ve done some digging and spotted that same icon in Sony’s 1994 developer documentation. What’s going on here? Well, we still don’t know for sure but check out as much detail on this foundational icon as I could gather here!
AND ON ANOTHER NOTE
The fairly bland checkered flag icon (EU, JP) got passed around a lot between publishers XS Games and Midas Interactive. It’s been spotted in Castrol Honda Superbike Racing, XS Moto, Sports Superbike, Sports Superbike 2 and probably more. I’ll update this block as it turns up
