Final Fantasy (JP)
What am I seeing here?

Original PlayStation memory card icons are really small — only 16 pixels square! That’s awfully tiny for today’s screens so I’ve created 2 versions of each icon: one at 32 pixels that is closer to the original size and a much larger one at 256 pixels
FUN FACT
They may have skimped on the memory card icons with Final Fantasy IX but they doubled (no, sextupled!) down with Final Fantasy I! This is one of the kings of memory card icons with an astounding 24 variations depending on how you play and when you save. It also required the biggest time commitment on my part with most of a whole day going into getting these icons.
So how does it work? The icon changes based on which character class is in the lead spot. There are initially only six classes but partway through the game you can optionally unlock six advanced classes. As you play through the game the first time you get the blue border whenever you save and if you start the game over again with a Clear Save you get the red border.
There is an additional detail of a star being added to the save file description once you’ve completed 100% of the in-game collections but that isn’t reflected in the memory card icons (thank god)
