What am I seeing here?
PlayStation memory card icons are only 16 pixels square! That’s very tiny for modern screens so what I’ve created are 2 versions of each: one at 32 pixels that’s close to the original scale and a much larger one at 256 pixels. Swipe through and look for captions, Fun Facts, and animated videos down below. And while you’re here:
FUN FACT
Exclusive to Japan, the Namco Anthology series (Vol.1 and Vol.2) isn’t as well known around the world as the Namco Museum collection but the team clearly put just as much work and heart into them. Each Anthology disc contains 4 titles, all of which are older home console releases from the Famicom, Super Famicom, or Mega Drive. The originals are included but there are also “arranged” versions of each game with totally new graphics and sound. Some are almost unidentifiable next to their classic counterparts like Valkyrie no BÅken and Namco Classic II.
From the memory card angle there are a few neat touches like Edit modes for Tower of Babel and Pac-Attack where you can create your own puzzle stages to swap with friends. Another updated feature doesn’t actually result in a unique save icon but I think it’s really clever all the same: The original Famicom version of Valkyrie no BÅken used a password save system and in Namco Anthology 2 your last password in that game is automatically saved to the Home Data file when you exit back to the main menu. Start playing Valkyrie again and you can quickly jump back into your game without having to punch in the complex password each time.
